Gluten Free Apple Crisp

This is a classic dessert that is super easy to make. Sweet, comforting, and completely gluten free!

Ingredients
  

Filling

  • 6 medium apples
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • ½ tsp vanilla

Topping

  • 1 cup gluten free all purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cup gluten free oats make sure they are labeled gluten free
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup butter softened

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350℉.

Make the Filling

  • Wash and cut the apples into thin slices. Peeling is optional, but recommended for a more consistent texture.
  • In the bowl of apples, add lemon juice, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla. Mix around until the apples are fully and evenly coated.
  • Pour the apple mixture into a pie dish or 8 inch baking pan. Set aside while you prepare the topping.

Make the Topping

  • In one bowl, combine the flour, oats, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Stir to combine.
  • Add the softened butter and finish mixing until evenly combined. It should be quite thick and able to be molded to the top of the apple dish.
  • Pour the topping on the apples and spread to cover the top completely.
  • Place in the oven and cook for 45-50 minutes. It will be done when the apples are bubbling and the topping is slightly browned.
  • Scoop and serve by itself or with your favorite toppings!
