Baking Supplies for Mixing
1. stand mixer
This is the exact stand mixer I use and it is perfect. The bowl has a capacity of 7 quarts which makes it perfect especially for large batches of things. There is a lever on the side which allows you to raise and lower the bowl.
2. hand mixer
Sometimes, you don’t want to bring out the huge stand mixer for an easier recipe. Here is a simple, but handy hand mixer. This compact tool is essential for when you need a little more than a whisk, but less than a whole stand mixer.
3. whisks
Hand whisks are insanely useful. I think it’s really important to have different sizes, too.

4.mixing bowls
If you are using a hand mixer or a whisk, you will need mixing bowls. I like these ones because of two things. The lids and the non-slip bottoms. As a baker, you know how annoying it can be when you’re trying to mix something and the bowl slips!
Baking Pans
1. sheet pans
Cookies, French Macarons, and sheet cake are just a few of the many things you will be using a sheet pan for. I like aluminum sheet pans the best.
2. cupcake pans
Used for both cupcakes and muffins, a good cupcake pan is a must. Pans with at least 12 cupcake spots are the best!
3. round cake pans
I find that when making round cakes, 8 inch is usually ideal. You also my want to have a springform (cheesecake) pan.
4. Rectangle/ square cake pans
If you plan to bake brownies or prefer square or rectangular cakes, you need the right cake pans.
Utensils/ Tools
1. spatulas
Spatulas to scrape your batter, frosting, etc. are crucial! They are the tools that help everything come together evenly in a mixture. Different sizes are great to have, too.
2. scooper
As someone who made cupcakes for years without a proper scoop on hand, I can assure you that buying one is completely worth it. I would have saved myself so much mess and uneven cupcakes and cookies if I had bought these sooner. They’re also wonderful for scooping icing onto cakes and cupcakes.
3. icing spatula
Icing spatulas are a must for cake decorating! Using a tool specifically designed to work for cakes will take your creations up a notch.
4. cake turntable
Decorating a cake with a turntable is a game-changer. This is not just a tool for professionals. Even as a novice, you will have a much more pleasant decorating experience with one of these.
5. piping bags and tips
A simple piping bag/ tip set will have you and your creations seeming professional. The main, classic piping design is usually created with a 1M tip. This one, along with other classic tips are included in my favorite piping kit from Wilton.
6. pastry brushes
I underestimated the importance of pastry brushes for SO long. Now, I cannot live without them. I use them to brush butter on baking pans, to spread simple syrup on cakes, and for brushing on egg wash.
7. cake scraper/ dough chopper
This tool is a must-have for icing cakes. You do not realize how smooth you can get your icing until you begin to use one of these. I also love them for dough. I can quickly and easily cut and pick up sections of dough with this tool.
8. rolling pin
A classic rolling pin is fun to use and extremely important in a baker’s kitchen.
9. measuring cups and spoons
Obviously, everyone needs measuring cups and spoons. I love these simple, stainless steel ones from Amazon.
Storage
1. cake stand (with cover)
Put your finished products on a cake stand for all to see! These are so pretty to have in the kitchen and you can fill them with anything you baked, not just cakes.
2. cupcake container
Whether you are storing cupcakes in your own home or transporting them to an event, you should probably have an airtight cupcake container. This keeps them fresh, and the cupcake slots prevent them from falling over or into each other.
3. cake container
For the same reasons you should have an airtight cupcake container, you should also have one for cake! Don’t risk messing up your beautifully decorated cake by attempting to store it any other way!
4. ingredient containers
You may have seen this popular ingredient storage kit before. It includes a container for flour, sugar, brown sugar, powder sugar, and a mini container. It also has accessories like a leveler, two dusting spoons, and a terra cotta tamper to keep your brown sugar moist.
5. butter dish
A butter dish to keep room temperature butter on the counter is so useful when baking fresh bread, muffins, and more!
